Hameln

The UK's second Energiesprong pilot  has been delivered by ENGIE and GSA for Moat in Maldon, Essex.

Supported by European funding from the INTERREG E=0 project, this 5-house pilot is due to complete in Summer 2019.

The demonstrators are situated on one side of the road in a rural setting exposed to the elements. Despite low D EPC ratings, these households were faced with high heating bills. After retrofit it is expected that the properties will be EPC A rated and considerably more affordable to keep warm in winter. They have now been insulated with additional roof and wall panels by Mauer, plus underfloor insulation.

The local planning office required that the street scene remain unchanged so, apart from the addition of solar, original looks have been preserved.

To keep the looks the same, solution provider ENGIE opted for acrylic brick-effect external insulation panels from Mauer. These have been colour-matched to the brickwork they cover. ENGIE also replaced the dormer windows to the front (Velux to the rear) which are highly insulated, triple glazed, and let in plenty of light.
